Layer´s of the Earth
The Earth is made up of four main layers, each with different characteristics:
1. Crust
- The outermost layer where we live
- Very thin compared to other layers (about 5–70 km)
- Made of solid rock
- Includes continents and ocean floors
2. Mantle
- The thickest layer (about 2,900 km)
- Made of semi-solid rock (like hot, slow-moving material)
- Heat from this layer causes movement of tectonic plates
3. Outer Core
- Made of liquid iron and nickel
- Extremely hot (about 4,000–5,000°C)
- Responsible for creating Earth’s magnetic field
4. Inner Core
- The center of the Earth
- Made of solid iron and nickel
- Even hotter than the outer core (up to 6,000°C)
Easy way to remember:
Crust → Mantle → Outer Core → Inner Core
